Press ReleaseHarvard Pilgrim Health Care in production with Duck Creek Technologies’ EXAMPLE Platform™From contract to production in less than five months…Harvard Pilgrim Health Care using Duck Creek’s Web-enabled solution for integrated rating to support “Easy Online Renewal System”Bolivar, MO, March 30, 2004 – Duck Creek Technologies, Inc., a provider of Web- based rating and policy management software and services, today announced that Massachusetts-based Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has selected and implemented Duck Creek’s EXAMPLE Platform (EXAMPLE Author®, EXAMPLE Server®). In less than five months, the Harvard Pilgrim team integrated the Duck Creek rating service with their own Web interface to create Easy Online Renewal System, a free, online service that allows insurance brokers to obtain rates and renew Harvard Pilgrim’s small-group accounts at their convenience. “We searched the market for a rating solution that would support the automation of our renewal process. A key requirement was a system that gave our actuaries the ability to self-manage the rate sets without a heavy reliance on the software vendor,” said John Dunne, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s Deputy Chief Technology Officer. “Duck Creek met all of our requirements, including our need for a technology that offered the scalability to support future products. The quick implementation was an added bonus and clearly demonstrates the flexibility and power of the Duck Creek solution.” Wendy Corman, Business Development Officer with Duck Creek added, “Harvard Pilgrim had their business and technical requirements well defined prior to our involvement. We were comfortable that the Duck Creek Platform would be a great fit, and that we would be able to contribute to their success. We appreciate the opportunity to provide product to another healthcare provider, and we will continue to validate our value proposition in this market segment.” About Harvard Pilgrim Health CareHarvard Pilgrim Health Care is a not for profit health plan with 800,000 members, a network of more than 22,000 providers, and 130 hospitals in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.
