Duck Creek Technologies to Launch Commercial Lines Platform

ISO and NCCI-based product templates to enable faster time-to-market

Bolivar, MO, May 17, 2005 – Duck Creek Technologies, Inc., a provider of rating and policy administration software for the insurance industry, announced today the upcoming release of a 50-state Commercial Lines rating, underwriting, and policy processing solution. Example Commercial Templates are now scheduled for limited release by the end of summer, 2005, with wide availability by the end of the year.

Commercial Lines Templates are off-the-shelf products that support ISO and NCCI-based rating, underwriting, policy processing, statistical coding, and forms generation. Duck Creek is currently working with several “early adopter” customers to test and complete General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Property, Auto, Crime, and Inland Marine.

Duck Creek’s Commercial Lines Templates can be customized through Example Author®, a user-friendly product definition environment that enables the carrier to adjust the ISO and NCCI standard rates, rules, and workflow, resulting in a customized, carrier-specific product. Customers can utilize the Templates in a “black box” rating environment or as part of a full policy processing system.

“Our customers have continued to ask us to apply our technology to their Commercial Lines needs, and we are responding to their request,” said Doug Roller, Duck Creek’s CEO. “Our Example Platform® has been used to bring hundreds of specialty and personal lines products to market quickly, and our goal is to do the same for the commercial marketplace. Our four early adopter customers have provided us with great insight during the development process, and we are eager to reward their efforts.”

Kathleen Rowe, CIO at Winterthur U.S. Holdings, Inc., parent of General Casualty, commented, “We signed up to be an early adopter after a full survey of other vendor offerings. We loved the technology and had known other companies who had completed successful personal lines implementations with Duck Creek. General Casualty also had the opportunity to contribute to the Template development. Duck Creek’s design approach is visionary, and their Author-based customization approach is a refreshing change to traditional hard-coded solutions.”
