Duck Creek Technologies announces EXAMPLE Platform® Version 1.7

New version includes support for forms management and an inheritance model for EXAMPLE Author®

Las Vegas, Nevada, May 24, 2004 – Duck Creek Technologies, Inc., a provider of product management software and services to the insurance industry, announces the immediate availability of the 1.7 version of the EXAMPLE Platform. Version 1.7 further extends the capabilities of Duck Creek’s proven EXAMPLE Platform®, which currently provides more than 30 insurance carriers quick product development, Web-deployment, and a strategic platform for growth. Among many new features, version 1.7 includes EXAMPLE Forms™, which supports forms management, and an inheritance model for the EXAMPLE Author®.

Inheritance reduces the amount of maintenance that we have to do because it enables us to separate and reuse common functionality. The NCCI-based Workers Compensation Templates that we will add to our platform were built with the inheritance model, keeping the reusable, nationwide information separate from the state and carrier-specific changes.”

About Version 1.7

Duck Creek’s 1.7 version supports a variety of new EXAMPLE Author features, including enhanced account management, improved statistical reporting support, forms, and inheritance. EXAMPLE Forms extends the Platform to provide support for designing, managing, and printing virtually any kind form, including policies, proposals, worksheets, and applications. Users simply create a form using Microsoft® Word, import the form document into Duck Creek’s EXAMPLE Author, visually map the data they wish to display, and add their own custom rules and formatting. With the inheritance model, users can easily extend an existing base product by overriding and adding new rates and rules. For instance, several homeowner plans targeted for specific markets can be easily created from a common product definition base that contains features shared by all of the products, greatly simplifying product maintenance.

Duck Creek’s Commercial Lines Templates are being developed to comply with the EXAMPLE 1.7 inheritance model. Buyers will have the benefit of inheriting from an ISO- or NCCI-standard product base and creating customized commercial lines products to support programs and specialized markets. Inheritance will greatly simplify the process of updating products when the customer receives Template updates.

The EXAMPLE Platform leverages the Enterprise Services provided by Microsoft to enable our Web services to be scalable. Developing EXAMPLE Express using the ASP.Net programming model provided an instant benefit because of the built-in caching and performance optimizations of the .Net environment. And, by developing under the .Net platform, we were able to simplify the development process using Visual Studio.
