Mercy Health Plans Selects Duck Creek Technologies' EXAMPLE Platform®

Duck Creek to provide Mercy Health Plans with strategic web-based quoting tool set

Bolivar, MO, June 28, 2005 - Duck Creek Technologies, Inc., a provider of rating and policy administration software for the insurance industry, today announced that Mercy Health Plans (MHP), headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has chosen Duck Creek's EXAMPLE Platform® to automate the rating and underwriting of its small group business. The Platform products selected include EXAMPLE Author®, EXAMPLE Server™, EXAMPLE Express™, and EXAMPLE Forms™.

In today's competitive market, Mercy Health Plans, a regional health plan with 220,000 members in Missouri, Texas and Illinois, needs to be able to quote and issue small group policies more quickly. The EXAMPLE Platform was selected because it will provide MHP with this ability.

William Bennett, Mercy Health Plans' Senior Vice President of Marketing noted, "Duck Creek's solution was chosen for several reasons, including its rules-based and table driven approach to rating and underwriting to facilitate our business users making changes to products rather than having to rely on our IT staff. Duck Creek also supports automated upload and mapping for census data which will eliminate tedious data entry."

"Additionally, the EXAMPLE Platform will meet the needs of our actuarial staff in modeling rate changes to our book of business," added Dan Pribe, Mercy Health Plans' Executive Director of Actuarial and Underwriting Services.

"We are pleased to welcome Mercy Health Plans to our growing list of clients in the Healthcare market and thank them for selecting Duck Creek and our EXAMPLE Platform," commented Wendy Corman, Duck Creek's Business Development Officer. "MHP has already delivered on their original vision, having gone live on the EXAMPLE Platform on June 21. Duck Creek and MHP are now pushing ahead on the next phase, which adds even greater functionality to their solution."
