Humana Implements Duck Creek Technologies’ EXAMPLE Platform® for Real-Time Rating

Duck Creek’s EXAMPLE Platform™ Product Suite enables Humana to streamline process for rating large group health benefits business

Bolivar, MO, September 9th, 2003 – Duck Creek Technologies, Inc., a provider of product management software and services to the insurance industry, today announced that Louisville, Kentucky based Humana Inc., (NYSE: HUM) has implemented Duck Creek Technologies’ EXAMPLE Author® and EXAMPLE Server®, providing cycle time reductions and real-time rating capabilities in Humana’s large group underwriting process.

EXAMPLE Author enables business users to define all features of an insurance product, including rates, rules, algorithms, documentation, screen flow, and policy transactions. Author stores all product features in XML documents called EXAMPLE ManuScripts™ which preserve the intelligence of the product definitions for use in both text documents and in software. EXAMPLE Server is a secure, scalable server that transforms ManuScripts into powerful, Web-enabled services, such as rating, underwriting, and policy processing, for use by carrier employees, agents, partners, and back-office systems.
